The Josephy Center is working with Nez Perce elder Allen Pinkham, geologist Ellen Bishop, and geologist and tribal interpreter Roger Amerman to explore the foundation of the Nez Perce “cultural watershed” through an intimate fusion of geosciences and traditional Nez Perce knowledge and stories. Our first exploration was Wallowa Lake. We have visited other places, and are working towards other videos and exhibits, but this conversation at Wallowa Lake is a good stand alone start. Should be of interest to anyone interested in the intersection of contemporary scientific and traditional Native understandings of place.
